Official history calls it encephalitis lethargica, a mysterious viral epidemic. But the facts don’t add up.
The virus was never found. The disease didn’t spread like normal infections. It targeted only the part of the brain controlling will and consciousness—with surgical precision. Then, just as suddenly as it appeared in 1916, it vanished completely by 1927.
