Moving Scissor Lifts With A Skid Steer

I wanted to see if I could use my skid steer to pick-up and move these scissor lifts.
This CAT 259B3 has a lift capacity of 2,950 pounds.
Each of these scissor lifts weighs around 3200 pounds, so I was curious how it would go.
It picked the first one up fairly easy.
These scissor lifts are designed to run on flat, hard surfaces, so I didn’t want to drive them across this rough gravel lot.
For the next lift I adjusted my forks closer together because it’s designed to be lifted lengthwise.
I was concerned this would be a problem because it shifts the weight further out from the machine- like a giant lever.
The skid steer really struggled to lift this one and it was bouncing all over, so I decided I’d better stop and strap it down.
When I was younger, I would have just gone for it and probably ended up breaking something, but I’ve learned it’s better to slow down and do things right.
The strap really helped but the skid steer was definitely at its tipping point.
You can see here it wanted to tip forward- I had to take it slow and watch for bumps.
Luckily, I made it over to the other warehouse with no problem.
If you guys are looking for an older, used skid steer- I’d really recommend one of these 259B3’s- this machine has been super reliable. @hausplans
