Remembering Wayne Barrett, fierce muckraker and Trump nemesis – the fifth estate

Donald Trump hated him, but Wayne Barrett a legendary New York journalist who died Jan. 19, 2017 after a lengthy illness, never stopped investigating the rich and powerful. Trump once reportedly called Barrett one of the three worst journalists of all time. Barrett hailed from New York City and reported on New York politics for four decades. He was most well-known for doggedly taking on Donald Trump, beginning in the ’70s when he and Trump were both rookies in their careers.
