Installing LP SmartSide On Our New House

I’m installing cheap OSB siding on my house to save money.
No, we’re actually using LP SmartSide and it’s designed to be resilient to moisture.
The manufacturer recommends priming and painting all cut ends before installing.
You can get prefinished LP SmartSide, but we ordered primed material and will have our painters paint it after it’s installed.
For the look we’re after, we installed ½” thick 4×8 sheets and then added 1 x 6 trim boards on top. We’re going for an English Tudor look.
The siding is installed with hot-dipped galvanized nails that are shot on with a siding coil nailer.
The nails are set flush with the top of the wood, and the siding is held up off the shingles to prevent water damage.
This house has a lot of crazy detail, but I was impressed with the siding work the guys did- it really turned out nice.
Once the siding was finished, they went around and caulked all the seams with Big Stretch.
Here you can see the back section where the painters started- it has two coats of paint.
LP SmartSide is not designed to touch brick or stone so we used PVC in these areas.
