In this video I discuss 4 cases where crime lab technicians were caught stealing evidence and/or falsifying reports resulting in over 36,000 convictions being overturned. In addition, the Detroit Crime lab was permanently closed over an investigation by the Michigan State Police which discovered a “shocking level of incompetence.” If “experts” are willing to take short cuts, lie, steal and falsify evidence on matters this serious, why would we expect better behavior out of other experts when the stakes are lower and the incentives are higher?
