A Toyota Master Diagnostic Technician explains the differences in gear oil used in Differentials, Transfer Case and Manual transmission, which fluid to use for Toyota and how often to change them.

In this video I will explain the different types of gear oil for your Toyota and Lexus Differentials, Transfer case and Manual transmissions.

GL-3?GL-4?GL-5? what is the deal with all these ratings and which fluid is the right one to use in which application?

Folks this video was born in the spur of the moment as a viewer brought me their 2017 Toyota Tacoma 4×4 manual transmission but bought the incorrect fluid. We went out to a parts store to find the correct fluid and to my surprise it was not as simple as the labels were super confusing and I can see how errors can be made all thanks to companies marketing departments play on words!

Also while we’re at it we’ll cover why Toyota uses 75W in their transfer cases in newer trucks.
