Amos N. Wilson | The Psychology of Self-Hatred and Self-Defeat, Part 2

June 14, 2014 72766 Views

The psychology of self-hatred and self-defeat lecture series presents a psychoanalytic theory of the topic based on the proposition that self-hatred–like all acquired maladjusted characteristics–are not only socially learned or created, but psychologically, politically, socially, and economically functional for those segments within a social system who created them. In the series, Amos Wilson puts forth and builds his theory around the central argument that black self-hatred is/has been deliberately created and maintained to serve the interests of inimical groups, particularly White (and Western Asian) supremacists. Even more, he demonstrates exactly how this creative process has and continues to take place, all the while detailing the damaging effects of self-hatred and self-alienation in and on the lives of their Afrikan/black victims. The full transcripts of the series can be found in the publication of the same name, The Psychology of Self-Hatred and Self-Defeat: Towards a Reclamation of the Afrikan Mind (2020).
