A “nudge” is any aspect of the choice architecture that alters people’s behavior in a predictable way without forbidding any options or significantly changing their economic incentives. Business use nudges every day to encourage you to spend more time on social media, click links, subscribe to services and purchase products. Nudges can be very simple and effective such as removing a candy bowl from a desk when someone is trying to lose weight. This video examines a few common examples of nudges and sets the stage for future videos about companies that use nudges in a more manipulative way to the detriment of their customers.
