In 1765, Samuel Adams along with Paul Revere, John Hancock and a handful of Boston merchants formed a group which became known as the “Sons of Liberty”. Their mission was to organize and energize their fellow citizens to resist new and burdensome British policies being imposed on the American colonies.
Today the United States is being turned into a surveillance state right before our eyes. Our right to privacy is under constant attack by the twin threats of government surveillance and surveillance capitalism where every company from Google and General Motors to Lowe’s, Target, Bass Pro Shops, and Louis Vuitton are constantly collecting and “sharing” your data.
The Brushfire of Freedom Tour is named in honor of the idea of “spreading brushfires of freedom in the minds of men”. Each tour stop will include an interactive workshop on writing FOIA requests and first hand advice from a former state legislator about how to be the most effective activist possible to push back against the surveillance state while there is still time.
