Creamy Vegan Chai! Refined Sugar Free

Vegan Chai

1 cup water
6 green cardamom pods (lightly bruised/cracked)
3-4 whole cloves
1-2 star anis
6 black peppercorns
3 slices of ginger
½ stick cinnamon
1-2 organic black tea bags or omit for caffeine free
1 cup of non-dairy milk
1 Tbsp of nut or seed butter of choice
2-3 dates

Bring water to a light boil and add whole spices. Allow to simmer until reduced to half. Add black tea bags a few minutes before you’re done simmering. Remove from heat and cover.

Heat non-dairy milk. Add dates, nut/seed butter and heated non-dairy milk to a blender. Blend until smooth and frothy (approx. 30 seconds).

Combine tea concentrate and milk mixture.
Enjoy!

Optional: Because I don’t like to add hot liquids to plastic containers, I cool, blend, and reheat my chai
