Here’s An Easy Way To Remove and Replace Studs

I’ve got a problem- this shower unit won’t fit through the bathroom door.
No matter which way I turn it, it’s just a little bit too big.
So here’s what I’m going to do, I’m going to cut out these two studs.
I position my hacksaw blade between the plate and the bottom of the stud, the goal isn’t to cut any wood; but to cut the two nails holding the stud in place.
The steel in the nails is soft and these blades have no problem cutting right through it.
To get the studs out- I angle them away from the bottom plate and pull straight so that I don’t bend the nails.
That’s right, I’m not going to cut these nails, but leave them in place, and keep track of which stud goes where.
I can hear it in the comments now- “why are you doing a fiberglass shower?” Don’t worry, our house will have 3 tile showers- this is just a spare bathroom.
Now I take the stud that I had cut out and line the holes up with the nails above; then I tap it with a hammer until it’s back in position.
Finally, I pop in two toenails and it’s good to go. @hausplans
