How a CSIS informant co-founded Canada’s biggest neo-Nazi group | The Fifth Estate

In a 1994 documentary, The Fifth Estate showed how an informant for Canada’s spy agency helped create the Heritage Front, the country’s largest neo-Nazi group at that time. Grant Bristow was hired by the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) to infiltrate the white supremacy movement. But members of the Heritage Front say he was the one whipping up members to commit hate crimes and was providing money to the organization, all under CSIS’s supervision.

“Without Grant Bristow, there probably wouldn’t have been a Heritage Front,” said Peter Mitrevski, a former Heritage Front member.

The Fifth Estate is marking its 50th year of investigative journalism. Watch “Good for Business — CSIS” hosted by former co-host Victor Malarek and more from the show’s files on YouTube.
