I Attempted to Grout the Stone On Our New House Using Kitchen Tools

I just attempted to grout the stone on our new house using only kitchen tools.
First up, I had to mix the grout.
Four cups of sand, two ½ cups of Type S mortar, and finally one cup of Type N “Graphite”.
I borrowed my wife’s mixer from home – this worked really well.
In no time at all we had a big bowl of forbidden frosting. Just like grandma used to make.
I bought a pastry bag from Hobby Lobby along with some decorating tips.
The Type S mortar gives the grout strength, and we used Type N for the color.
At first I had problems with the bag clogging, but then I ditched the decorating tip and it worked fine.
Once I got the grout installed, I let it set up for an hour.
Next, I used a table spoon to strike the mortar.
First, I scooped off the extra with the top of the spoon and then I smoothed the grout joints with the bottom of the spoon.
Finally, I went over all of it with a pastry brush, this helped to clean things up.
I’m happy with how it turned out, but it was a ton of work- I actually wore a hole through the middle of the spoon.
Let us know in the comments- what should we cook or build next? @hausplans
