Let’s replace the batteries on this scissor lift- They’re over 10 years old and won’t take a charge anymore.
Initially I couldn’t decide whether to buy new batteries for this lift or rent one for an entire month for the same cost.
But then I decided we could use two lifts for the work on the warehouse, so I rented one and fixed this one.
It takes four 6-volt golf cart batteries- I bought a lifting strap so I could move them around without using pliers and vice grips.
These batteries are wired in series which means the positive terminal of one battery connects to the negative terminal of the next battery.
I like to take a video of something like this before I take it apart- that way I can reference how it goes back together.
We’ve had problems in the shipping container with condensation; so, I was nervous to see if this lift would work, or if the moisture had damaged it.
Initially everything worked fine- later we did have one problem where it would lift up and down but wouldn’t drive forward. Luckily, we got that figured out.
So, how much do you think I paid for all 4 batteries? @hausplans
