I Just Built A Road To The Back Of Our House

I need a better way to get around to the back of our new house.
So, I’m going to build a road, actually let’s call it a highway that goes down to the basement garage.
First, I marked out the road with spray paint- I’m making it 12 feet wide.
Next, I jumped in the skid steer and started stripping away all the topsoil.
Topsoil contains organic material and doesn’t make a good base for a road, so I need to get down to solid clay.
I’ll save the topsoil and use it for the yard later.
We trucked in 200 tons of 3” crusher run. It contains 3” stone, fines, and stone dust that compact really well.
Spreading gravel is one of my favorite things to do.
A skid steer bucket doesn’t tilt like a bulldozer blade, so I purposedly scoop more gravel on the right side of my bucket- this way when I spread the gravel it slopes the road to the one side so water will run off.
Finally, I compact the stone with my vibratory roller.
I still need to build it up a couple feet at the bottom of the hill, but it’s starting to look like something.
What do you think the speed limit should be on the new Haus Plans highway? @hausplans
