Installing Temporary Posts to Help with Heavy Snow Load

Every winter we put a few temporary posts under the flat part of this pavilion roof- in case we get some heavy snows.
There is no electricity up here, so I decided to try out this PRO power inverter on my new F250.
The outlet in the bed has 2000 watts of power.
The breaker tripped once early on, but after I hit the reset button it never did it again and worked flawlessly the whole time.
Now I wouldn’t want to idle my truck all day long building a deck or something, but in a pinch it’s great to have a little power source like this. Even if you just use it to charge some batteries for your cordless tools.
I even decided to plug in my compressor to see if it would run it- no problems at all- it fired right up.
Because I only had three boards, I ripped one of them in half so I could make two “T” posts.
They won’t bow like a single board and will be able to support more weight.
These are just temporary supports that we’ll take down in the spring, so I didn’t use any fasteners- I just wedged them into place.
Because this roof has a pretty big span, a heavy snow could cause some damage to the rafters.
Let me know in the comments- do you think onboard power is gimmicky or is it something you would actually use? @hausplans
