Financial Advisor Jayson Thornton, CFP — REACTS — a man getting arrested for trying to cash a fake check at Synovus Bank in Douglasville, Georgia. After talking with the police for some time he continues to deny that he is trying to cash a forged check. He even tells the police that he was in prison for 7 years for robbery & that he successfully completed parole. Then the police tell him they are familiar with the scam that men in Atlanta find homeless men to drive up to the outer areas of the Metro Atlanta area to cash checks for them & then share the profits. He then decides to tell the police that he was trying to forge a check & that he would share the details of who brought him. He says that his life would be in danger, but that he was very familiar with operation & wanted to speak to investigators about this. He is then booked & processed into the Douglas County jail.
