I’ve always been more impressed with mechanical things than technology.
Give me a carburetor any day over a software update.
The loader arm safety brace on this skid steer is a real thing of beauty.
Pay attention to this bushing right here.
This brace is used to safely lock the arms in an up position when you’re working on the machine.
Watch the bushing at the end of the brace as it rides along the arm below-all the way till it gets to the top where it drops into this notch, right here.
I just lower it back down a little bit -now it’s locked into position.
There’s no way these arms can come down; they’re mechanically held into place.
Now this is where it gets really cool- watch this tiny lever drop into a pocket. Then when I lower down it actually lifts the brace up over the notch, so it is released to go back to its original position.
Just simple mechanics, this will never need a software update or have to be rebooted. It will work all the time, every time.
And call me old fashioned, but I think we need more simple things in life.
