Mounting An Electrical Box On Uneven Stone? Use This PVC Trick!

Here’s the problem- this wall gets stone veneer, but I need a flat surface to mount my disconnect boxes.
So, I glued together two pieces of ¾” PVC- this will give me a place to mount the boxes.
First, I’m gonna seal up around the holes the electricians made.
I use ZIP tape and make a slit at the bottom- like a pair of pants to fit around the wire.
The first piece I install from the bottom up, and the next piece from the top down.
This will keep out air and water.
Next, I drill a one-inch hole in the PVC where the wire needs to come through for the disconnect.
I make sure it’s level and then I screw it to the wall.
I’m using a special bit that sinks the screws to the right depth so I can install a plug.
The plugs are tapered on one end, and you just lightly tap them in.
This PVC is the same thickness as the stone we will be installing so it will flush out.
I seal around the block with Lexel to keep water out.
There’s a protective film on the PVC that I will remove after the masons are done.
Let me know in the comments if you want to see the stone being installed. @hausplans
