PoE – Power Over Ethernet – Allows you to power network equipment through Cat 5 cable. 802.3af supports up to 15.4W per port and 802.3at PoE+ provides up to 25.5W.

PoE changes how office spaces need to be designed because you generally do not have to hire a professional electrician to run “low voltage” cables.
