Hey Y’all Hey! This is my June 16th Prayer and Worship. In this Live, we worshipped the Lord, prayed and received guidance from the Holy Spirit regarding repentance and the consequences of sin.
The Lord is calling all His children to a life of repentance similar to King David. Whenever David sinned, He confessed his sin to the Lord AND abandoned the sin. Many times, people will confess but miss the abandon requirement. The fruit of true repentance is CHANGE. We have to ensure we are not saying we have repented for a sin but continue to operate in that sin. That is deception.
Repentance is a change of the mind and coming into agreement with the Lord’s view regarding that sin. For example, When I repented of fornication, my view of the actions shifted from casual acceptance of the World to the forbidden commandment of the Word. I came into agreement with the Lord that I had sinned against His Word (confession) and decided to walk in purity going forward (abandon).
God calling us to an active lifestyle of repentance.
He is also highlighting the (sometimes overlooked) consequences of sin. The Lord promises to forgive us of our sin once we truly repent but that does not remove the consequences of sin. King David repented for sleeping with Bathsheba and killing Uriah but the consequences of that sin still went forth. David and Bathsheba’s baby died and David’s bloodline was negatively affected.
Even now, many are currently dealing with the consequences of sins from their past but the Lord is still with us as we walk out through these situations. Draw near to him during these times and let us strive to live a life of purity to avoid having to experience the aftermath of a sinful decision. 🙏🏽
‘One who conceals his wrongdoings will not prosper, But one who confesses and abandons them will find compassion. ‘- Proverbs 28:13
‘If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous, so that He will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. ‘ – 1 John 1:9
‘Then David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord .” And Nathan said to David, “The Lord also has allowed your sin to pass; you shall not die. However, since by this deed you have shown utter disrespect for the Lord , the child himself who is born to you shall certainly die.” Then Nathan went to his house. Later the Lord struck the child that Uriah’s widow bore to David, so that he was very sick. ‘ – 2 Samuel 12:13-15
