We’re getting super close to being done with this warehouse project and one of the last things I need to do is take down this temporary construction fencing.
These posts are super hard to pull out- I definitely can’t pull them out by hand.
I’m sure there’s probably a better way to do it- but I’m going to show you how I do it.
I hook both ends of the chain on the bucket to make a loop.
Then I drive up to the post and wrap one side of the chain around it at least three times.
One, two, then I come around a third time- now I wrap the other side of the chain the opposite direction.
This way when I pull up on the post the chain tightens against itself and pulls it right out of the ground.
You can buy these steel plates that have the cut out of a T-post in the middle -you hook a chain to them, slide them over the post to pull the post out.
But the nice thing about the method I use is that I don’t have to get in and out of the machine to hook the chain around the post.
If I’ve learned one thing over the years- it’s do whatever you can not to hurt your back.
When you work by yourself a lot you have to invent ways to get things done.
If only I could train a small dog to hook this chain up for me, it would be so much easier. @hausplans
