We just bought 5 acres of land that we’re planning to build a house on, and the first thing we needed to do was mow the property.
It had been mowed in past years with a big farm tractor- which left a lot of ruts.
So I wanted a machine with a lighter footprint.
Now I have a Ventrac that I love, but this is the 50th anniversary of Steiner tractors and I thought it would be fun to show one.
This tractor has a 37 horsepower Vanguard air cooled engine with electronic fuel injection.
They articulate in the middle so it’s easy to steer around obstacles, like this pond.
The biggest thing for me to get used to on the Steiner was the foot controls.
I’m used to the hand controls on my Ventrac and found myself reaching for them all day long.
It has this cool hydraulic weight transfer that adds weight from the attachment on to tractor for added traction.
What I was really excited to try was this 72” wide flail mower.
It mowed down these tall weeds and made the field look like a finished lawn.
This mower has a rotating drum with knives that pivot so they’re less likely to get damaged when you hit something.
We’ve got a few squatters to kick off the property but hopefully we’ll be building before long.
