When we think of the Bush family, we think of George Bush Senior and George Bush
Junior, but there were other controversial Bush’s. Prescott Bush, father to George Senior,
was a banker and Republican politician with a very shady past. In 1933, Prescott Bush
was part of a group of wealthy businessmen who were plotted to overthrow President
Franklin Roosevelt and install a fascist dictatorship, with US Marine Smedley Butler as
dictator. With backing from sympathetic financiers, the group hoped to raise an army of
500,000 veterans to march on Washington DC.
