The Sahara Desert was once a lush, green region between 9,000 and 5,000 BC, thanks to stronger monsoon winds and the Earth’s more extreme axial tilt, which brought abundant rainfall. As the Earth’s tilt gradually shifted, the monsoons weakened, leading to the desertification of the Sahara, forcing vegetation to retreat and human populations to migrate to more hospitable areas.
