This Rebar Tying Tool is Super Fast-Is it Worth the Cost?

Look how fast I can tie rebar.
The foundation guys were putting rebar in for the spray booth pit walls, and they were using this tying tool; so, I decided to check it out.
It’s a MAX RB398
It weighs just over 5 pounds and can tie 2600 ties per charge.
The guys said they’ve had this tool for over 7 years, and it’s been super reliable.
It feeds from a spool in the back and you can get 120 ties with one spool.
The spools cost around $7.00 a piece.
It’s really easy to change the spools, you just push this lever and feed the wire through- once you get it in place you just click it shut and you’re good to go.
This model’s been discontinued but I looked on the MAX webpage and they make a newer version- it’s an RB398S.
Here’s a tie I cut off with my snips- you can see how it wraps around several times.
At $2400.00 it’s not cheap, but it definitely speeds up productivity.
What do you guys think? @hausplans
