The Toyota and Lexus 3.5L 2GR engine has for a long time been a staple of reliability and durability. Folks are upset and mourning the replacement of V6 engines with 4 cylinder turbo engines.
However the latest version of the 2GR engine specifically the 2GR-FKS is starting to come down with some worrying problem trends. One of them are oil leaks.
In this video we will take the powertrain out of this 2018 Toyota Highlander to repair a major oil leak onto the exhaust. And while we have it apart we were surprised by an abnormally worn down chain guide. I hope this doesn’t become a trend as well because it’s not looking good.
