This is crazy is really crazy.
Check out this boom mower attachment from Ventrac.
It has a dual action sickle bar that can reach over 11 feet up from the ground, and 9 feet away from the tractor.
I borrowed this attachment from a friend, and I was curious to see how it would do mowing the grass along our fence line.
This area is hard to get under with a mower because there are so many branches hanging down.
Next, I wanted to try trimming some tree branches- it’s rated to cut up to ½” diameter material.
Everything on the boom can be controlled with one hand.
This lever raises and lowers the boom arm.
Push the green button on the lever and it moves the boom in and out.
Flipping this red switch turns on a light, which let you know you’re in a mode to control the mower head- it rotates both clockwise and counterclockwise.
The boom mower has its own hydraulics for the sickle bar that run off the PTO from the tractor.
Finally, I wanted to try mowing around this pond- I actually got stuck here before mowing with a skid steer, and I’m not wild about the idea of hip waders and a weed eater.
