“Surveillance Capitalism” is a term used to describe the way companies are hoarding and trafficking in people’s personal data. Some of the biggest players in Surveillance Capitalism are banks and credit card companies who are now selling customer data to data brokers. Burner Credit Cards are one time use credit cards that can be loaded with the exact amount of money for a purchase to 1) prevent a seller from getting and storing your real credit card information where is may be vulnerable to hackers in a data breach and 2) prevent banks from knowing the types of items you are buying and the stores you are shopping at.
